Cleaning Tips to Help Cut Back on Housework

No time for housework? Here are a few tips to help make cleaning quicker and easier:

Dusting - Keeping your homes humidity level between 40% - 50% can eliminate static (which attracts dust and makes it stick) and helps decrease dust mite growth.

Countertops - When cooking something messy, line the counter with wax paper. When done, just fold up the paper and throw out the mess.

Pet Hair on furniture or drapes - To remove pet hair easily, warm a dryer sheet and rub it over the cushion or drapes. This will get rid of the static cling and allow the hair to fall off so it can be easily vacuumed.

Garbage Disposal - Empty a few ice cubes and  orange or lemon peels into the disposal and turn on until ice disappears. This will clean and deodorize the disposal.

Microwave - To clean the cooked on splatters inside the microwave, heat two cups of water in a microwave safe dish for five minutes. This will soften the splatters and you can simply wipe away with a paper towel.

Glass Shower Doors - Use a rain-repellant product made for car windshields to create a barrier  which will keep soap suds from sticking. Another option is automatic shower cleaners available at most big-brand retailers which will douse the shower/tub with a cleaner to prevent soap scum build-up and fight off mold and mildew.

Toilet Bowl - Buy denture tablets and put one in the toilet overnight. The next morning just brush a bit and flush to remove stains. These tablets will also work to remove coffee stains  from mugs and get rid of the buildup found in the bottom of flower vases.

Hopefully these tips will help you free up a little more time to enjoy your summer!
